All praise and thanks be to Allah, and peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah and upon his family and companions and whoever follows him.
My sister: I disclose to you among the lines of my letters a reminder, I copy from the shades of the Quran and the spring of Sunnah, a preach by which you gain the reward, so O my sister, listen…
This worldly life is not eternal, its conditions will not remain the same, it is as a whole with what is in it and what is over it, and all are to vanish. And Allah Alone full of Majesty will remain forever.
Remember that you are in a journey where its turning point is death, its station is the grave and its place of settlement is either Paradise or Hellfire.
So, consider which to ride?
Would you ride the boat of the obedience and compliance so it drives you to the best destination {Verily, The Muttaqûn (the pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise). (54) In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allâh, the One, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).} [Surat Al-Qamar54:54-55].
Transliteration: Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaharin (54) Fee maqAAadisidqin AAinda maleekin muqtadirin
Or would you ride the boat of disobedience and astray so it drives you to the worst end. {In fierce hot wind and boiling water, (42) And shadow of black smoke, (43) (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good,} [Surat Al-Wâqi’ah 56:42-44].
Transliteration: Fee samoomin wahameemin (42) Wathillin min yahmoomin (43) La baridin wala kareemin
So my sister, consider what will you ride!
The journey is short and its boats are obvious in front of you as the clearness of the sun in the center of the clear sky.
My sister, how long will you live in this worldly life? Sixty years, eighty years, a hundred years, a thousand years and then what? Afterwards, there is death and then resurrection to the gardens of delight or to the Hellfire.
Be sure, with an absolute Truth with certainty that as the Angel of death has surpassed you to other than you, He is in the way for you! Know that whatever life extended and lasted long, its fate is to vanish. It is only some years, days or moments and you will become lonely, alone without lovers, fortunes or companions.
Imagine yourself and that death has already come to you and that the Angel of death has come and pulled your soul from your feet!
Remember the darkness and loneliness of the grave, its narrowness and desolation, its terror of entryway and its evil death! Ah, what a home that gathered the sundries and the opposites. It is either everlasting delights or boiling fluids. There is no difference between the mean and the noble when entering it, the lofty or the newly born, the preacher or the dumb, the king or the slave, from the poor or the rich.
Remember the looks of the Two Angles while they make you sit down and ask you. Remember how your body looks after death. Your limbs are cut apart, your bones are crumbled, your body is frayed and you have become the foodstuff for earthworms.
Then the Trumpet will be blown. It is the cry of being displayed before Allah for judgment; you hear the sound, and your heart goes crazy, your hair turns gray, you come out dusty, barefoot and naked where the earth has been shaken, and the mountains have been powdered to dust, the eyes have been staring in horror, the (written) pages (of deeds (good and bad) of every person) have been laid open, the fearful has become anxious, how many hag says Oh how old I am! How many old women say Oh what a failure! And how many young woman shouts Oh where is my youth!
Hellfire has come out so it burned, hellfire has breathed in anger so it tore up limbs, hearts are cut and dispersed, the eyes have turned into liquids, necks are bent, colors have faded away and the ordeals have come in succession.
Remember your disgrace on this day, your isolation with your fear and grief, your worries, anguish and sins. And all voices will be humbled for the Most Gracious (Allah), and nothing shall you hear but the low voice of their footsteps. The hearts are filled with horror, the day when every nursing mother will forget her nursling, and every pregnant one will drop her load and you at that time will disavow your sons, your mother, your father, your husband and your brother.
Remember these situations and terrors where one forgets every dear and beloved.
Remember the day when the scales of justice are placed and the (written) pages (of deeds (good and bad) of every person) are being laid open, how many sins and defects there are in your book of deeds.
Remember the day when you are told to cross the Path.
Remember the day when Allah will make you confess your sins and there is no translator between you and Him! What will be your answer or how will you apologize?
My sister: call yourself to account before you are brought to account for your deeds; and assimilate your sins before they become as regrets for you on the Day of Resurrection.
{O you who believe! Fear Allâh and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow,} [Surat Al-Hashr 59:18].
Transliteration: Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ittaqoo Allaha waltanthur nafsun ma qaddamat lighadin waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha khabeerun bima taAAmaloona
Tawbah ibn As-Sammah, was one from those who call themselves to account for their deeds. One day he contemplated about his age and found that he was sixty years old, then he counted the days of the sixty years and found that they were twenty one thousand and five hundred days; so he yelled and said: “Oh woe to me! Do I meet my Lord with twenty-one thousand sins? How could I do that and in every day there are thousands of sins?”
My sister beware of disobedience to Allah as it is a trouble in the living, anxiety in the soul, a deficiency in sustenance, destructive to the age, hardship in the living and sadness in the heart.
Miserable are the sinners. They have obeyed the devil and disobeyed The Merciful. Their woes have taken place; their sins have become huge; their defects have become colossal and their sins have been counted in the Book of Deeds. Miserable are the sinners. They have disobeyed The Ever-Compeller in the night and day; they have occupied their hearts for the torment in Hellfire and have blackened their pages by sins and offenses.
Miserable are the sinners. They have neglected the obedience and lost themselves before the Day of Resurrection!
My Muslim sister: spend your living moments in obedience and free your neck from the consequence of regret.
{(Remember) the Day when every person will come up pleading for himself, and everyone will be paid in full for what he did (good or evil, belief or disbelief in the life of this world) and they will not be dealt with unjustly} [Surat An-Nahl 16:111].
Transliteration: Yawma tatee kullu nafsin tujadilu AAan nafsiha watuwaffa kullu nafsin maAAamilat wahum la yuthlamoona
It is the day when you look at you right to see only what you have sent before you and look at your left to you see only what you have sent before you...
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as saying: “The people would be assembled on the Day of Resurrection barefooted, naked and uncircumcised”. I said: O Messenger of Allah, will the male and the female be together on the Day and would they be looking at one another? She said: he has said: “O Aisha, the matter would be too serious for them to look to one another”. [Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
On this day, the near and the far, the friend and the foe disavow from you. {And Shaitân (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: “Verily, Allâh promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, and you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves} [Surat Ibrâhîm 14:22].
Transliteration: Waqala alshshaytanu lamma qudiya alamru inna Allaha waAAadakum waAAda alhaqqi wawaAAadtukum faakhlaftukum wama kana liya AAalaykum min sultanin illa an daAAawtukum faistajabtum lee falataloomoonee waloomoo anfusakum
On this day {That Day shall a man flee from his brother, (34) And from his mother and his father, (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) Everyman that Day will have enough to make him careless of others.} [Surat ‘Abasa: 34-37].
Transliteration: Yawma yafirru almaro min akheehi (34) Waommihi waabeehi (35) Wasahibatihi wabaneehi (36) Likulli imriin minhum yawmaithin shanun yughneehi
My sister: you should work for these moments… verily you should prevent yourself from Hellfire by complying with obedience and avoiding the prohibitions.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has said: “There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time (for doing righteous deeds)” [Reported by Al-Bukhari].
«نعمتان مغبون فيهما كثير من النّاس: الصحة والفراغ» رواه البخاري
So do your best –may Allah keep you- to hasten for what saves you from Hellfire, invest your time and youth in what satisfies Allah and keep Allah present in your mind in this worldly life so that He preserves you in this worldly life and the Hereafter
Avoid what angers Allah of the prohibitions and the forbidden; beware of dissoluteness and of the unveiling of the face, of backbiting and tale bearing, of arguing and pride, of lying and betrayal and of all the atrocities and vices.
Be keen on gaining more good by performing righteous deeds, enjoining Al-Ma’rûf, saying the goodly word, giving charity and alms, helping the needy, honoring the guest, being merciful to the weak, invoking Allah Glorified and Exalted, dutifulness to the parents, the continuation of praise to Allah, approaching to Allah by observing the confirmed and the optional acts of worship, reading the Quran. Be keen in observing the duties and obligations; the most important of which is the prayer as it is the pillar of the religion and its basic corner. Adhere to the modesty and dignity, covering and veiling, chastity and shyness and obedience to your husband in Al-Ma’rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do).
Those were advising words which I have collected for you as a reminder and enlightenment. The best thing I conclude this essay with is a comprehensive recommendation from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) “if the woman prayed her five (prayers), fasted her month (of Ramadan), preserved her vulva (been faithful to her husband) and obeyed her husband, it is said to her: enter paradise from any door you like.” [Authenticated by Al-Albani].
«إذا صلت المرأة خمسها، و صامت شهرها، و حصنت فرجها، وأطاعت زوجها، قيل لها: ادخلي الجنة من أي أبواب الجنة شئت» صححه الألباني
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and upon his family and companions.
